dreaming of portland

what a wonderful thing i have in my friends. i have never felt family with people like this who aren't my physical family. i can't help but think of how amazing it would be for all of us to live close to eachother again. i am filled with such a warm feeling upon every thought of my loved ones, but at the same time, a kind of dispare. i feel the heat when i wake up and imagine the crisp cold air of big bear. the smell of fires going out and sweet fall. sometimes i feel like i am in some far away exotic land being here. only because i know my home do i feel the distances from it. that is how life is. if you know true love and joy, you will also open yourself up to feel true hopelessness, dispare and sorrow. i think most just like to live safely in between. but you can find beauty no matter where you are on the spectrum i think. so if you are reading this and you are a close friend, i love you.

it has meant so much to nadia and i to have to have you here. you've brought so much life and creativity into our (your) home. i think is a very small taste of life involved community. people that talk, eat, create, surf!, live together.

i know exactly what you mean. we really have created a family. it's funny, i feel homesick also. and i'm in big bear. but home isn't home without your family. but just thinking of the love we all share makes me happy. i know that in a time not too far from now, we will be able to drive five minutes to each others' house and make dinner and coffee, play cards and listen to music. derek, josh, nads, ewan, rosie, suzo, joey, and the rest of the family-you are missed! and derek-we love you too!
