beauty and grace

the old sun felt so new as it woke them today
cracked hands on a soft face was all they had to say
slowly they look up to find eachother
slowly a smile breaks onto her face
father sees beauty and mother sees grace

mother's planting flowers in the yard
father is digging and never worked so hard
slowly they look up to find eachother
slowly making a home from a place
father sees beauty and mother sees grace

mother and father climbing up the stairs
guiding eachother just as they've done for years
still they lay down embraced in eachother
still as if it has been no more than a day
and father dreams of beauty and mother dreams of grace
