gypsy hotel 7.7.06

things have been going a bit slowly with the band lately so we decided that to keep our creative juices flowing we should just put on our own show and do everything on our own. this idea eventually evolved into the circus that was here two night ago. we decided it would be very house party-esc. we wanted to play and have our friends, The Delta Spirit, play. they are from san diego and some of the greatest guys i know.
well we were just kind of spreading the word by mouth until some one (we don't really know who) put up a blog about it on our myspace and said that if we RSVP they would get directions to the party. now keep in mind that we live in a nutshell of a studio. there are six of us all crammed into a bedroom that is about 7' by 20' and the other room is our living room/practice space. very 'rock n roll' as some might say. we figured we'd be able to fit maybe 75 people in there if they were packed in like freaking cattle. but anyway, we had enough rsvp's to make at least myself worried that this was starting to become an untamable beast. it turned out to be one of the best nights i've had in a while. i wasn't feeling socially anxious or anything stupid like that. i met new people and had conversations. we played music and sang together. it was a beautiful night. no fights no cops, just love, lots of love. in fact, when i walked out the next morning there was love laying all over our floor. there were probably 15 people sleeping right smack dab on the floor amongst a bunch of beer bottles, cigarettes and broken light bulb glass. we even had the random dude that nobody knew who slept all night on the couch. he even slept during both bands and all the dancing that went on afterwards. rumor has it that the next morning he just woke up, rubbed his eyes, looked around and got up and left. i love it. if you weren't there you should definitely plan on being there next month! here are a few pictures, there are more on my flikr page.
