i am up two hours before everyone else and before we have to leave. all i seem to really crave so far on this trip has been sleep so i am confused. there is something about gillian welch that brings my heart to the surface. and so here i am. it's funny how things and life can change from day to day. what to do about these changes is usually pretty understandable to me it seems. except when it comes to girls. a few months ago i told myself, "no more thinking about girls. be ok to just not have anything going on with any girl." so i started growing a beard. Obviously right?
i like having a beard. it makes me feel legit and like some dude who doesn't give a shit and would punch your mom and not even care or something. Kidding.
I have been loving reading all of your blogs lately. It is definitely a great way to keep in touch. I think once you get past the fear of looking self righteous because you are just writing about yourself is when it gets good. fuck it, I say be self righteous! Well... At least be honest. And we are all so very honest. Not kidding friends. There is nobody that I've ever befriended that I know is as honest an uninhibited as you lot.
we played in seattle at a place called chop suey. it is a small Chinese themed club in the 'rainbow' district of seattle. i will tell you all something about seattle. not that you don't probably know already. but for me personally, everytime i go to seattle i feel like it is raining for the first time in months. you know what i mean? like a flood of emotions. i love that damn city. it is so powerful. this was the last show for a while that we had the delta spirit with us. right before sound check i ran up the street to grab a pack of smokes. it was a pretty seedy area so i kept my head down and my pace quick. i felt a bit of darkness about the area as soon as i began walking. you feel alone and out of place. i walked by a bum sitting on the sidewalk. he was a huge slender/built black man. he was so tall that i had to almost step over his leg which was shooting out from the bottom of this contorted knot he had his body in with his head buried deep into his shoulders. he was wearing all black with these gnarly knee high combat boots. he was screaming something at the top of his lungs. the only words i could make out were the cuss words. standing in line at the liquor store i looked around me and noticed that this wasn't a liquor store at all!!! when i looked closer at all the people in the store i noticed that they were all men. they all had this odd style of dressing. pretty much like a gross version of those Japanese animation girls. i don't know if it is just me but when i see a full grown man who could very well be a lumberjack or a deep sea fisherman talking with a lisp and wearing girls raver clothes without even bothering to shave his body or facial hair..... it kind of makes me feel like i am not getting something. when you have a five o'clock shadow and you put make up on OVER it. i mean... seriously? it is like these dudes are not really gay. they aren't really just attracted to men, they are attracted to women flavored men. i didn't mean that in a gross way at all either. so anyways, they did happen to be selling cigarettes anyways at this 'run down liquor store' themed gay club so i made my purchase and was on my way. walking back to the venue i saw my old friend the giant black demon possessed guy. i tried my best to get past him. i was sure he was going to see my fresh pack of smokes and ask me for one. i had made it about two feet past his leg when sure enough i hear him calling at me. Admitting defeat i dramatically stopped quickly turned around to pull a smoke out of the pack for him. he didn't ask for a cigarette though, he had this huge crazy looking face. he asked if i was in a band. a bit caught off guard, i explained to him what we were doing and where we were playing. as i was talking to him i noticed that this guy too had a crazy outfit on. he was in all black with a mohawk and those crazy-ass boots. he looked like he was working on the set for mad max four. like i said, he was huge and pretty intimidating. he had this crazed look in his eyes like he was either about to smash my head with his bare hands or burst into a roaring laughter and kiss me on the cheek. so when he asked me if i could get him in to see the show it was more out of fear than charity that i agreed. "what is your name" i asked " so i can put you on the guest list" i noticed his countenance suddenly change from a freaky bum to an eager little kid. he had this huge beautiful smile on his face and gave me his street name first, which was something hilariously insane like 'vortexico' or something like that. i laughed and said that i needed his real full name for the guest list. "oh yes sorry! vincent allen" he said. "ok" i said, "you're in man! i'll see you later on tonight cool?" vincent leapt to his feet and shot out his hand not even trying to hide his overwhelming giddiness. he shook the hell out of my hand and kept thanking me over and over again. even after i said goodbye and was walking away he was still thanking me. i loved it. so he came to the show and we hung out afterwards and he turned out to be a very wonderful and kind person. who would have thought.

"he looked like he was working on the set for mad max four."....
Some of your best work yet.
vortexico. I am truly LOLing at that. man, i am sitting here thinking about these stories you have one after another and thinking how blessed you are to experience these small-seeming yet powerful things. these encounters must be ordained. that sounded really stupid, sorry.
Genius!
I so look forward to your blogs!
p.s. you were in the background of an episode of Hollywood true story, on E!, it was funny
