so after a few months of gay coffee it feels good to get out into the real world for a bit. you know, fresh air, good taste, not feeling like a piece of raw meat just outside of a cage full of hyenas. gay people can be so annoying and narrow-minded. weird, just like people at church.... moving on.... we decided it would be a smart move to save up some dough and drive out to south by southwest (or if you're texting: sxsw (or, if you want to sound cool, (like a bro ho): "south by")). i wonder how far you can go with putting apostrophes inside of apostrophes etc.? remember that movie 'being john malkovich'? it seems like you would enter some kind of weird imploded version of reality. so anyway... it is fun and refreshing being here. i really do love this city, but hells bells if there aren't a million and one bands out here who are doing the same thing we are, and are probably blogging about it right now, and probably wearing a brown sweater, and who are probably geographically and mathematically in direct proportion of each other in more than just coincidental ways! weird.... hahaha i am in such a dumb mood right now. ok so, it is really fun. a bit frustrating at times when you realize how many bands there are trying to do what we are, but it is good and i have already snuck into some really ass kicking shows. like yesterday when we got into a show and sat in a booth right next to lou reed (old man rivers) and watched the ravonettes (the jesus and mary chain from denmark). i have never seen anything like this on earth. the whole downtown shuts down and the streets are lined with nothing but bars and clubs and from noon to two in the morning there are bands booked solid in everyone. i would say that there will have easily been at lest 500 bands play by the time the week is over.
we had our first show yesterday opening up for the shout out louds and it went surprisingly well. we were right across the street from stubb's bbq which is pretty prime positioning.
right now we are about to hit up whole foods! yum! and then do the same thing today. we dont have any shows today so we will just be seeing some friends bands. i might be able to get into a private show with my morning jacket and yo la tengo playing a lou reed tribute show! fingers crossed. love and miss you guys.

Hey I'm in Austin too! And by Austin I mean laying on my bed, in red scrubs, in Vegas, listening to Lou Reed on my itunes. Lameee.
Holy shit that makes me jealous. When you get back we should do stuff(ride bikes(I have an extra one (beach cruiser) for you to ride) and other things(play cards(hell(also known as "Nerts", "Nerf", "Gluck", "Peanuts", "Pounce" (sounds lame), "Solitaire Frenzy", "Stop" (also lame), "Squeal", "Squeak" (yup), "Squid", "Speed", "Squinch", "Racing Demon" (awesome!), "Race Horse Rummy", "Lucky Thirty", "Grouch" and "Hallelujah" (with your og deck))) and the like(drink the rest of that old crow you bought months ago))asap). So when do you get back?
YES! in that case, i will be praying that it happens, regardless of whether or not it is the right thing for you to do, because i am selfish like that.
