lazy brain

i was walking down the beautifully victorian housed streets of san fransisco today and a thought hit me: i spend so much time wasting this amazing body part of my that can access so many wonderful thoughts and emotions. i feel like i have been lazy with my brain and well, my spirit. i think that feeling the fall coming has kind of brought this up in me. then i thought: well, i usually get inspired and excited about things because of the poeple around me. then i thought: i can't expect others around me to always be inspiring and uplifting. then i remembered a few words that changed my life "be the change you wish to see" what amazing and simple wisdom! the only way to truly and effectively bring about change is not to tell or even guide people to it, it is to make that change in yourself and be that change. this is a lesson i learn and re-learn daily in my current position. how foolish and selfish it is to just get frustrated with people for not being what you want them to be. yes i do have some incredible people in my life but i, somewhere along the road, began to view you all as the standard instead of an incredible blessing that should inspire me to share the love and passion and beauty that i've experienced in you all with others. We've always known that we have had something amazing in our friendships but it is easy to find too much comfort in that to the point where you are afraid to have deep relationships with others because of an insecurity that they might not measure up. hmmm...

It's so great to read your words again. I'll never forget one of the first times you led worship and you just started singing, "freedom" over and over. I really understand a lot of the thoughts you have and it's comforting to know you're out there justing being you.
